Rohit Sharma’s career is going through a rough patch. In the recently concluded T20I World Cup, Team India’s captain appeared rusty. He has been chastised for India’s exit from the T20I World Cup 2022 semi-finals. Even Sharma’s coach, Dinesh Lad, took a shot at the Indian captain in a stern message to Team India. Lad believes that star cricketers should not miss international matches. Rohit Sharma’s Coach Slams Team India Captain see below.
According to Rohit’s coach, there has been no stability in the team over the last seven months because openers have not been fixed and opening bowlers have changed. The lad has a different take on the team management’s rotation policy. He also chastised players for not skipping the Indian Premier League (IPL) in order to be fresh for international matches.
“I don’t think so,” Dinesh Lad replied (giving workload management as the reason). Everyone in the world is playing because they are professionals, not because it is a burden. Why are they participating in the IPL? If you want to win the World Cup, don’t play in the IPL.” He also stated that there should be no compromises when playing international cricket.
Rohit Sharma’s Coach Slams Team India Captain:
“It is solely on them. How can I say this (whether players’ IPL contracts should be terminated)? They’ll have to make a decision on that. You are considered for the IPL because you have consistently played for India and your states. Your international performance influences your salary cap (in the IPL). So you don’t get an entry into the IPL right away,” Lad was quoted.
Particularly, both Sharma and Virat Kohli have been rested for the current New Zealand series, as well as the one-day series against Bangladesh. Due to an injury, even star bowler Jasprit Bumrah missed the T20 World Cup 2022.
The 50-over World Cup will be held in India next year. It is critical that Sharma regains his form before the mega-event.
