However, their T20 World Cup campaign was one of the worst nightmares as they only managed to win one game and lost all the remaining ones in the process. The series against Pakistan will be the time for them to restructure their team and set their goals for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The Bangladeshi selectors have taken some tough calls in the selection, like resting Mushfiqur Rahim for the T20i series.

“We have four back-to-back Test matches against Pakistan and New Zealand,” Minhajul said. “He is a key player. He is one of our best players. Tamim Iqbal is already injured. He is in doubt for the Test series. We want our best player to give his best during the Test series, so after consulting extensively with the team management, we have decided to rest him. It is only for the Pakistan series. He will be available later.”

Finisher Soumya Sarkar, fast bowler Rubel Hossain and opening batsman, Liton Das, have been overlooked by the selectors. In place of them, new young players are : Saif Hassan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Aminul Islam, Shahidul Islam, Yasir Ali, Akbar Ali. They are given a chance to represent their country and show their skill set on an international stage.

Tamim Iqbal is also ruled out of the T20i series due to a thumb injury. Earlier, he picked a knee injury which kept him out of T20 World Cup squad.
