After Batting Coach, Lankan Video Analyst Tests Positive For The Delta Variant

Sri Lanka’s team has just reached back to Sri Lanka from the U.K.  for the series against India and has managed to get the delta variant with them.  After the batting coach tested positive yesterday for covid, today the news of the video analyst of the team has also managed to test positive for the virus. The bio bubble the team was in has found 2 cases already till now and it has created havoc in the Sri Lankan team with the ODI series vs India coming under doubt.

The series vs India is set to start from Monday but with the covid situation, the series has started to become a bit difficult. Even if the Sri Lankan board decides to get a whole new squad it won’t be that easy. Any new players who will join the squad now will need to be isolated.

India Vs Sri Lanka ODI Series Under Scare

Even though no other player from the squad has tested positive yet, all the players and the support staff were in the same bubble and that makes everyone at high risk for the virus. The Indian team will not take the risk of playing this side as everyone was exposed to the virus. This situation makes things really complicated for the Board. Regular tests of the team are being taken as per the protocols but that does not ensure full security as the virus come to everyone in different ways. The Sri Lankan Board will have to take some serious calls and decide on things if they want the series to go on as per the schedule.
