New Zealand defeat England and win the series

New Zealand defeat England in the second test and win the series 1-0. In the second test played at the Edgbaston cricket ground, New Zealand defeated England by 8 wickets. England loses its first series at home after 2014.

Joe root won the toss and decided to bat first.

New Zealand- Tom Latham(c), Devon Conway, Will Young, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, Tom Blundell(w), Daryl Mitchell, Neil Wagner, Matt Henry, Ajaz Patel, Trent Boult.

1st Innings-

Opening the batting for England was Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley. The openers got off to a good start facing out the new ball attack. They made a partnership of 72 before Sibley was dismissed. England lost 3 more wickets quickly and was reduced to 127/4. Rory Burns crossed the half-century mark. He and Dan Lawrence built and continued to build a partnership. Mark Wood made an Important contribution. England was bundled out for 303. Rory Burns and Dan Lawrence were the best batsmen scoring 81 runs each. The pick of the bowlers for New Zealand was Trent Boult Picking up 4 wickets.    

Opening the batting for New Zealand was captain Tom Latham and Devon Conway. Captain Latham was dismissed early. Devon Conway and Debutant Will Young took the matters in their hand and both crossed the half-century mark. Later Ross Taylor as made important contributions and crossed the half-century mark. Will Young was the best batsman for New Zealand scoring 82. Devon Conway and Ross Taylor scored 80 each. The pick of the bowler for England was Stuart Broad Picking up 4 wickets.    

2nd Innings-

Opening the batting for England was Rory Burns and Dominic Sibley. The English batters got off to a terrible start. Kiwi bowlers dominated the innings. England kept losing wickets. England was all-out for 122. Mark Wood was the best batsman for England scoring 29. Matt Henry and Neil Wagner were the best bowlers for New Zealand picking up 3 wickets each.

New Zealand needed 38 runs to win the second innings. Opening the batting for New Zealand was captain Tom Latham and Devon Conway. New Zealand lost Conway and Will Young but comfortably chased the target. Kiwis completed 41/2. Tom Latham remaining not out on 23. Stuart Broad and Olly Stone picking up 1 wicket each. New Zealand defeat England by 8 wickets.

Matt Henry won the Man of the Match award.

Devon Conway and Rory Burns won the Man of the Series Award.
