BCCI GRANTS PERMISSION FOR TNPL, Tamil Nadu Premier League will be played between 4 June 2021 to 4 July 2021

A wonderful news came from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association for the southern state Tamil Nadu soon after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) granted permission to kickstart the every-year held game the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL).

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) will host the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2021 after approval from BCCI.

Tamil Nadu Premier League Overview:-

Last year, with the Novel Coronavirus also known as Covid-19 on its peak the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association postponed the state game (TNPL) which was slated to begin on June 10, 2020.

TNCA secretary R.S Ramasaamy seemed very confident last year for the game to happen.

The challenge will be to conclude the tournament by the third week of August because there are indications that the Indian Premier League (IPL) could be held in September, he mentioned.

Indeed, this brought a lot of despair to the hearts of cricket starved fans. The TRP that always saw a sudden rise did not even count a single watch. The TNCA secretary said, “Almost 99 per cent, we will be having the matches before empty stadiums.

Will Star Network Broadcast TNPL?

It’s a pity but cannot be helped under the circumstances. However, journalists, broadcasting crew, officials and the local organizers will be allowed into the stadium.” Ramasaamy felt that the broadcaster, Star India, would not have any problems with the dates as long as there is a reasonable gap between the TNPL and IPL.

After assessing the prevailing conditions of Covid-19, this news has brought a ray of hope for the cricket admirers. The fans will see this as a source of entertainment amidst the pandemic. However, with this, fans will indeed see themselves standing in the cricket arena after some good time.

“TNCA is glad to announce that BCCI has approved the TNPL 2021 tournament. After getting necessary approvals from the Government of Tamil Nadu, the tournament will start on 4th June at Tirunelveli and the finals will be played on 4th July at Salem.

TNCA will follow strict Standard operating measures of bio bubble with frequent testing and quarantine rules as it is being done for BCCI Domestic matches, International matches and with IPL,”

TNCA stated in a press release

The TNPL will be played in a caravan format where teams will play their matches across three venues – Tirunelveli, Salem and Coimbatore.

TNPL 4th Sesason in 2019:

In the fourth season of TNPL held in 2019, Chepauk Super Gillies lifted the trophy, chasing new targets in each match, finally defeating Dindigul Dragons in the Finals.

Similarly, this year the tournament will start on 4th June 2021 (Friday) at Tirunelveli and the finals will be played on 4th July 2021 (Sunday) at Salem in Tamil Nadu.
