PERFORMANCE OF TEAMS IN CPL 2021 : PREVIEW
Saint Lucia Kings :
Throughout the tournament, Kings has shown performances collectively as a team. By the end of league matches, they fixed their spot at no.4, saving the berth for semi-finals. Who would have thought that Kings will go to the final ? The addition of David Wiese has been the biggest positives for Lucia Kings. Wiese has not only provided a stability to the batting line-up but also bamboozled batsmen of opponent team.
The semi-final win against the four time champions, Trinbago Knight Riders was special in itself. Kings posted a humongous score of 205/4 after choosing to bat first. Its been a speciality of this team that they had a match-winner in their line-up, on whom one could have depended on. Losing two quick wickets, Mark Deyal stood up this time giving team the needed support with his batting. He smacked up 78 runs and was supported by Tim David and David Wiese with their quick-firing 30’s. Lucia posting a good score in the 1st innings took away the momentum with them. Due to the momentum, Lucia were able to scalp wickets at regular intervals and as soon as Keiron Pollard was dismissed, the Knight Riders were never able to compete in the game. Hence, Lucia Kings won the game by 21 runs.
St.Kitts and Nevis Patriots :
Patriots have heavily depended on their batting and have succeeded in showing a exhilarating batting performance against all the teams with the mind-blowing performances of the tournament’s highest run-scorer Evin Lewis.
It was an easy semi-final for the Patriots as they dominated the game in their own style. Universal Boss, Chris Gayle was in the mood and if he would have continued, we could have expected a Gayle-storm. But his opening partner, Evin Lewis was not far behind in destroying Warriors’ bowling line-up. Amazon Warriors showed a fighting spirit throughout the tournament but felt shorts of spirit in the semi-final game. Eventhough they racked up 178 runs, but couldn’t defend the total in front of Evin Lewis. Lewis smashed 77 runs at hot strike rate of 197. It took only 18 overs to chase down the score and entering in the finals.
