Chelsea has reached the final after blowing away Real Madrid in a clash of the semi-finals:
Chelsea 2-0 Real Madrid: Match report
Thomas Tuchel’s team achieved a 2-0 win against Real Madrid depending upon the goals by Timo Werner and Mason Mount. The brilliant performance by the young stars of Chelsea sent them through the finals. They won a 3-1 on an aggregate win at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
German striker Werner has not gone through a good season wearing this blue jersey. But on Wednesday Timo helped Chelsea to get an advantage in the first half. He scored a simple goal by a tap in a header in an open net. Pulisic’s shot rebounded of cross-post and finished by Werner where Courtois was standing like an audience.
On another side, we had Real Madrid who is a thirteen-time European champion. They are the first club ever to win back-to-back 3 UCLs in a row.
Real Madrid got the service of their captain Sergio Ramos but even with the service of Sergio Ramos, they were outplayed by Thomas Tuchel’s side. The German coach is going to playback to back 2 UCL finals with two different clubs. He is the first one to achieve this.
This game should have killed by Chelsea in the first half surely. But they created a huge number of chances and missed also that number. But we have to say Courtois gave a brilliant performance against his former club and former stadium. The miss continued for the second half also. We saw Tuchel many times react after the misses.
But Mount’s close-range finish in the 86th put the last nail in the coffin of Real Madrid.
The final in Istanbul will be the second where two EPL clubs face each other in the UCL final between three seasons.
Zinedine Zidane reacts to Real Madrid’s defeat to Chelsea:
“They deserved the win. We tried but they deserve to advance to the final. We can be very proud of ourselves and I’m very proud of the players. Chelsea played really well and we have to congratulate them. The first changes we made were Mendy and Vinicius because they had to work so hard in that area of the pitch.
Chelsea had their chances. We had a couple but you have to take your chances, football is like that. Now, we’ve to focus on LaLiga. It’s tough to take, but we’ll prepare tomorrow for the next match.”
Mason Mount post-match:
“I can’t put it into words at the moment. It was a great performance. We should have had about five, but the most important thing is that we won. To get that goal late on, you could see by the celebrations how massive it was, giving us breathing space in the last five minutes.
“We gave it everything, we had that desire, we wanted to win. I haven’t won anything yet, but we have two massive cup finals, and hopefully, we can win. The final is going to be a stunning game.”
