Barcelona got a big blow as the high voltage match against Atletico Madrid ended as a draw. Barcelona went to that pitch as this was a must winning game for them. They never can afford a draw in that match. Unfortunately, this match ended as a draw and Atletico Madrid is still holding the top position in the La Liga table. Despite Barca created a huge number of chances of the game they could not find the net. This match has ended dividing the points between them. In a must-win game, we expect a lot of moe from Barcelona but in terms of converting the chances, it was a pathetic performance by them.

Story of the FIRST HALF:

In terms of attacking, Atlético was surely the better side in the first half. As a football fan, we can say that this match was not very good to watch at all. The game was very discontinuous as there was no flow in the game. There was always either injury or foul. Barca did several miss passes which is not the nature of Barca players. When Atletico Madrid player recovered the ball they are very dangerous in their counters. Atletico used this same pattern throughout the whole match. Mostly they played counter-attacking football.

In the first half, there were just two big chances came, one for each team. For Atletico it came for Correa. Firstly Hermoso got the ball in the left and tried to find Correa in the box with a low cross inside the box. It seemed like an easy goal but Lenglet came for the rescue. He made a brilliant tackle on the ball and saved Barca from 1-0 down.

For Barcelona, the chance own created by Lionel Messi alone. He is nearly to-do goal of the season but denied by Jan Oblak. Messi carried the ball 40 yards alone while dribbling past everyone. Jan Obalak made a brillian save and rescued Atletico Madrid.

At halftime, it was a poor game of football. In the first half, Atleti was the far better side and we expect to get better performance from Barca in the second half.

Story of the SECOND HALF:

At the starting of the game, it was the same as the first half. Atleti had full control of the game. Barca played like they did not know that this was a must-win game for them. Barcelona played at their best in the last 30 minutes. But their every try ended with a save of Jan Oblak. He made many important saves throughout the last half-hour.

In this game, the best chance came to Ousmane Dembele with five minutes to go. This best chance came when Jordi Alba played a perfect cross to find Dembele all alone. But the Frenchman headed the ball over the bar and wasted this golden opportunity.

In the last 90th minute Messi got a freekick and his freekick just missed. The ball went over the crossbar. Without a miracle, Barca’s season is almost over.
